When writing a blog, in the beginning, you are basically faceless. By letting people know there is an actual person behind the words on the screen can spark a connection with you and the customer. Ultimately, adding human interest to your blog allows your readers to connect with you and your business in a more personal and relatable way. For me, reading a blog post that is similar to a personal life experience draws me in to read more. I am also emotionally connected with the writer and become more engaged with their content. Effective human-interest blogs can result in your company differentiating itself from their competition. When a human-interest post is well written, it will captivate their audience, and through its uniqueness, produce a bigger fan base and consumer interaction. I like the idea of tips to buy or sell a home. A person may not need those tips most of the time, but when they do, they really do need them. Ideas for your newsletter would be to get some data on your current customer demographic i.e. young couple first time buyers, older couple buying for retirement etc. Take that data and craft individual newsletters for each group. I understand that this will be much more work, but it may let your customers feel more connected to you because the newsletter isn't just more junk mail they don't need.
ReplyDeleteHi, Chade. I think that your strategy for creating interesting, useful content for your newsletters is certainly a clever one. The topics that you have mentioned as possible articles for your newsletters seem to be ones that would benefit homeowners themselves rather than real estate agents, and that is a very good thing. After all, homeowners are obviously your key customer group that you will be focusing on. I also agree that it is wise to make your newsletters monthly ones so that your customer base will not feel like they are being bombarded with information or pressured into making home renovations that they may not feel comfortable making right away. I like all of the possible newsletter topics that you have mentioned so far. In addition to these, perhaps you could include articles about which renovations can increase home values, how to choose new homes in safe areas with good local schools, and maybe a few articles about the usefulness of home security devices. Anyway, I enjoyed reading your post.
