Week 2 A

Which social media platforms seem geared towards personal use? Why do you think so?

Although social media is a constantly evolving platform, I’ve always felt that sites like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp, Pinterest and Snap Chat were all platforms that are geared towards personal use. I’ve always used social media sites, like Facebook and Instagram, to document aspects of my life and share it with family and friends. Sites like WhatsApp gives me the ability to stay in touch with friends who are overseas. In today’s world,  people are still using these platforms to connect and engage with everyday people. Twitter, for example, is a site where someone can communicate to their audience of friends all at once, or Snapchat, a creative way share photos and mini videos about your day to all your friends and family.

Which ones seem to work better for business? What makes them seem more suitable to business use?

If you are a creative, out the box type of individual, you can probably use any platform to connect with potential clients or customers. For Example, Dr. Rubinshtein is a dentist who uses Snap Chat to connect with potential patients through his Q&A sessions. For someone who is starting out, I would first suggest getting to know your target audience and then build from there. So if you are in the business of making jewelry for women I would start my marketing campaign with  Pinterest first.  Nearly half of Pinterest users are females. Ultimately, it would probably be best to be on all platforms that are geared towards personal use. The Likeable Social Media textbook provides good examples on when a customer on social media complains about a product or service, and the stratification that is received from said customer when a company listens to their complaint and respond with a resolution. The books also speak about the adverse effects of not listening to your consumer's complaint, via social media.

Do any seem to work well for both? How are they used differently?

I believe that digital marketing on social media sites that are geared towards personal use works well together.  Companies with a good marketing team are able to create a space that allows them to interact with their customers, via social media, without it being a distraction for the everyday user. Many companies are able to use sites like Instagram, Pinterest or YouTube to plug in their advertisements, as well as respond to their customers inquires. Additionally, a lot of people like to connect with their favorite brands through social media, as well as connect with other like-minded individuals.

Week 10 A - Appealing To Peoples Emotions

When writing a blog, in the beginning, you are basically faceless. By letting people know there is an actual person behind the words on the screen can spark a connection with you and the customer. Ultimately, adding human interest to your blog allows your readers to connect with you and your business in a more personal and relatable way. For me, reading a blog post that is similar to a personal life experience draws me in to read more. I am also emotionally connected with the writer and become more engaged with their content. Effective human-interest blogs can result in your company differentiating itself from their competition. When a human-interest post is well written, it will captivate their audience, and through its uniqueness, produce a bigger fan base and consumer interaction. A human-interest post may be less effective if you are guest blogging for a company. Especially if you are writing from the standpoint of your own personality while disregarding the company’s ...

Week 16

The social media platforms I enjoyed the most were Facebook, Instagram, and Email marketing via Mail Chimp. I learned so much with the Facebook marketing tools and was proud of what I was able to create for my company. I’m a big fan of Instagram and I enjoy its easy to use platform. With Mail Chimp, I was able to tap into my creative side and design a newsletter that reflected my company’s personality and mission statement. Finding the right type of social media platform for your business is extremely important in today’s world. Social media allows companies to interact with their consumers as well as learn about their audience demographics. After checking out which social media platforms my competitors are using to interact with their clients, I decided that Facebook marketing and Email Marketing would integrate best with my company. With a weekly email marketing campaign, I am able to strengthen the relationships with my clients and build credibility. With Facebook, I can engage ...

Week 15 A

Under Data Activation, the Audience Demographics would integrate well with my company. I would use this feature to learn more about who is viewing my website and need my services. Ultimately everything under the Reporting, category would be extremely beneficial. The available stats would help me get a better understanding of what happens when a user is on my site, what information they focused on the most and which advertising campaign is capturing my audience attention. Data Collection and Management feature will help me stay organize. Having an abundance of data with no organization can be tedious. The import data feature will allow me to import data from other sources and get a better understanding of my advertising campaign. What’s cool about the Google Big Query section is that it provides data driven feedback every 10 minutes. Through the Integration umbrella, features like Google Ads, Google Ad Manager and Search Ad 360 will benefit my company a lot. These features could help...
